BOTOX® COSMETIC

botox

BOTOX® Cosmetic is a purified protein that is used for relaxing muscles on the face, mainly around the eyes and forehead. BOTOX® is FDA approved and has been safely used for over 10 years to treat many eye and neurological problems. Because the needle used is so small, pain is minimal and no anesthetic is required. Some patients may experience some minor bruising at the injection site. About 5 days after this procedure the treated area becomes relaxed giving the face a rejuvenated and well-rested appearance while still allowing normal facial expression. Results last about 4 months, and after repeated treatments, injections can be spaced out even longer.

CHEMICAL PEELS

chemical-peelThere are many types of chemical peels, glycolic, salicylic, and a blend of different ingredients. They differ in depth of peeling and cosmetic result. Facial rejuvenation can be achieved with the use of therapeutic, natural chemical agents to reduce fine wrinkles, tighten the skin, and reduce dark spots and hyperpigmentation. The exfoliation induced by a chemical peel helps to promote cell turnover and stimulates collagen growth which improves skin texture and tone. The skin becomes firm and resilient with increased capacity to retain hydration. A series of chemical peels can result in a more youthful, healthier glow. After a thorough evaluation of your skin, the proper peel can be chosen to specifically improve your skin.

DARK SPOTS AND MELASMA

dsmThe treatment of melasma and dark spots can be challenging and frustrating with recurrences being the rule. There are various topical and in-office treatments to treat these troubling dark patches on the face. In addition, it is important to use adequate sunscreen and discontinue the use of any oral medications that may be contributing to the problem. Treatment options can include special custom order topical creams and chemical peels. After a thorough evaluation a strict treatment plan will be implemented based on a personal analysis.

PHOTODYNAMIC THERAPY

Photodynamic therapy (PDT) can be used to treat conditions like acne. In addition to your prescription acne regimen, physician supervised medical facials and chemical peels, severe acne can be treated with Levulan PDT. Acne treatments with Levulan PDT is the most recent advance in acne therapy. PDT for acne involves the application of Levulan to the skin where it is absorbed specifically by overactive oil glands and the bacteria responsible for acne. Light from a laser source activates the Levulan solution to kill bacteria and shrink the oil glands, resulting in a significant improvement in moderate to severe cystic acne. Levulan therapy is safe and can even work in patients who have failed other therapies. Often 3-5 treatment sessions 3-4 weeks apart are required and except for redness and sun avoidance, most people return to work or school immediately.

SCLEROTHERAPY ( SPIDER VEINS)

Spider veins are visible red or blue blood vessels that spread like a web across the skin, commonly on the face and legs. They are not usually harmful but they can be painful and unsightly.

It is not entirely known what causes spider and varicose veins, although likely factors are heredity, pregnancy and hormones. Women are more likely than men to develop problems — more than 20 percent of women suffer from mild to severe varicose veins.

The gold standard treatment for spider and varicose veins is sclerotherapy. A special solution is injected into the blood vessel, which then collapses it. It is then reabsorbed by the body. Using support stockings can be an important way to prevent recurrence.

Radiesse™

radiesse_logo_finalRadiesse™ is a synthetic injectable filler that reduces wrinkles, creases and scars by augmenting the body’s natural collagen supply. Composed of microspheres in a biocompatible gel, Radiesse is made from the same minerals found in our bones, so it carries no risk of allergic reaction (unlike collagen, which requires a skin test) – just one of its advantages over alternative treatments. Radiesse can be used on many areas of the body, but the most effective areas treated are the nasolabial folds, laugh lines and around the mouth. Radiesse can also be used to replace lost volume in the cheeks or chin where time and natural aging has left a hollowed or sunken appearance. By filling these areas we are able to instantly rejuvenate the face in a single visit. Results are visible immediately after the injection and can last for 9-18 months, although the procedure can be repeated as often as you wish.

Sculptra™

SculptraSculptra is a new injectable product used to counteract the loss of fat beneath the skin, a condition called lipoatrophy. Sculptra is injected into the deep dermis layer of the skin to improve the appearance of sunken cheeks, hollow eyes, indentations and wrinkles. There is no need for allergy testing, since Sculptra’s main component is poly-L-lactic acid that has been used for 20 years in surgical products such as dissolvable sutures. Clinical trials have shown that the benefits of Sculptra treatments last up to two years.
